Porcelain laminates are one of the most popular applications of aesthetic dentistry today. In general, porcelain laminates are thin, leaf-shaped porcelains that can be applied with a small amount of cut (0.5-0.7mm) on the front surface of the teeth, or in some cases without any cut. It is a very preservative treatment option for teeth. Since the porcelain lamina adhered to the tooth surface is very thin and has a very high light transmittance, it gives the most natural and aesthetically perfect results.
The key to a successful laminate veneer treatment is to build the correct patient-physician-laboratory relationship. The physician understands the patient’s expectations and a digital or manual smile design is made in the light of photographs and these data. At this stage, only sizes are measured without any intervention. The smile design made is transferred to the teeth of the patient (mock-up), thus, the look of teeth following the treatment is shown to the patient.
After the patient and the physician decide on the new smile, the teeth are etched and the sizes are measured (digitally or manually). The size information is sent to the laboratory, and at the end of a 4-5 day process, the final laminates are ready to be attached.
Until the final laminae are attached, the temporary ones obtained in the smile design are applied to the patient. In this process, the patient is not left with a cut tooth and starts to get used to a new smile.
– Very aesthetic and long-lasting results are obtained in closing the gaps between the teeth (diastema).
– It can be applied to patients who are not satisfied with the shape and size of their teeth.
– In cases where orthodontic treatment is not accepted by the patient for some reason, it can be applied to remove the tooth distortions.
– In the case of large, old, and discolored fillings in the teeth, they can be applied for a more permanent and more aesthetic solution.
– More permanent and aesthetic results are obtained for patients who are not satisfied with the color changes (antibiotic and fluorine discolorations) in their teeth.
– In the treatment of broken teeth, a look suitable for the natural tooth structure is obtained.
– Very good results are obtained in patients with wear on their teeth.
Porcelain laminates can be used for years without any problems with good oral care.
Since the teeth are anesthetized in the treatment phase, no pain is felt. There is no pain until the porcelain laminates are inserted as temporary ones are put.
Since there is very little loss of substance from work, no pain or sensitivity is encountered after the porcelain laminates are attached.
Unless there is any trauma to the teeth, any breakdown is not expected as they are produced from very solid materials.
– The biggest advantage of porcelain laminates is the treatment option that causes very little material loss from the dental tissue, and in some cases, gives excellent aesthetic results without causing any material loss.
– Since they are very thin, their light transmittance is very high. It is the material that best imitates the natural tooth.
– The look that will be obtained at the end of the treatment without interfering with the teeth is shown to the patient (mock-up).
– Does not change color with external factors such as coffee, tea, smoking.
– The surface of the porcelain is smooth.
– They are produced from wear-resistant and durable materials
